Beacon has been awarded a contract to provide warehousing support to the Department of State (DOS) as a subcontractor to Lumark Technologies. The team will be providing all activities associated with operating a 400,000 square foot warehouse and logistics center located in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Lumark and Beacon create a team of experienced warehousing and logistics service experts, but more than that, they are a team focused on improving the performance at the DOS. By leveraging Beacon’s proprietary performance improvement methodology, the team will help DOS excel in their current operations to improve efficiency, improve safety, reduce errors, and continuously improve all aspects of operations. This performance improvement approach is one of Beacon’s key differentiators and has been used on several of their logistical and managed service type projects, resulting in reduced costs, improved processes, and more effective workforces.
Beacon has been a trusted service provided at DOS since 2007. The prior iteration of this contract was one of their first contracts at DOS and since then, they have expanded extensively with over 75 personnel working in 22 bureaus across the agency. Beacon also holds several other warehouse and logistics support contracts, including in a Secret-cleared environment.
“We’ve had a longstanding relationship with the Department of State as they have always been an important client to us,” stated Vince Liser, Beacon’s DOS Program Manager. “Although we could no longer prime this work due to our 8(a) graduation, we wanted to stay strongly connected to this customer. This meant we had to identify the right partner—a company that had similar values in quality, service, and commitment to excellence. That was Lumark Technologies.”
Lumark is a Small Business Administration (SBA) certified 8(a) small, disadvantaged company with extensive capabilities in logistics, program management, systems engineering and technical support within multiple civilian agencies and the Department of Defense. They are CMMI Maturity Level 2 rated, Better Business Bureau accredited, and have several staff across multiple DOS bureaus.
Luis Riesco, President of Lumark stated, “Both our companies [Lumark and Beacon] have a strong relationship and a great reputation at DOS and I look forward to working together to provide DOS with outstanding service.”
