Brian Smith Chief Financial Officer

Brian Smith has over 25 years’ experience as a financial executive supporting a variety of industries including manufacturing and distribution, technology and government contracting.  He has experience in all aspects of strategic finance, including accounting, mergers and acquisitions, corporate operations and business planning.  He has been successful in helping small businesses with the challenges of rapid growth and sustainability.

Brian is responsible for leading and overseeing the tactical and strategic financial operations of Beacon.  Within a short period of time as Beacon’s CFO, he instilled stronger internal controls, refined the reporting structure to include key performance metrics and implemented a forecasting model that enhanced company short and long-term visibility.  Prior to joining Beacon, Brian was the CFO for a government contracting organization that provided IT technology services in which he led the successful acquisition of the company.  He also held the position of CFO, for Marconi Communications Federal, a provider of telecommunications equipment to the federal government.  In this capacity, he successfully increased revenue by implementing performance metrics management and accountability reporting tools.

Brian brings more than financial acumen to Beacon.  As a key member of the Executive Team, he impacts every aspect of the company’s evolution.  His ability to see the big picture and his high regard for people, has made him an invaluable member of the three key action teams:  Performance, Compensation, and Branding.

Brian is a graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) with a degree in Economics, and certificates in Accounting and Finance.  Mr. Smith is a certified public accountant (CPA) in the state of Maryland.
