Bel Air, MD – June 3, 2011 – Beacon has been named one of the Top 50 fastest growing women-owned companies in North America. Beacon is an award winning management and consulting company headquartered in the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area.

Hundreds of women-owned companies in the US and Canada were evaluated for this award which was based on revenue growth from 2006 to 2010. Beacon far exceeded the minimum criteria for this award as Owner and President, Carol Koffinke, led the company in growing over 700% from 2006 to be a $20M+ company in 2010.

The success of the company has a lot to do with how CEO, Carol Koffinke, runs the business. Just as Women Presidents’ Organization (WPO) President Marsha Firestone shared at the Award Ceremony, one of the keys to success as a fast-growing business is a “highly skilled team.” Also noted by Firestone was that the most significant factors to hiring and keeping skilled staff is a company’s positive reputation, competitive compensation, and a flexible working environment. These are all factors that Beacon’s CEO, Carol Koffinke, takes to heart and this comes through clearly when she speaks about her employees.

“None of Beacon’s success could have been possible without our people,” said Koffinke. “All of our employees are leaders . . . a fact that is reflected in our vision statement: ‘We attract the best people by providing the opportunity to realize their full potential. Beacon is a place to excel and a great place to work. We develop leaders.’  In addition, our culture is one that exhibits a strong work and home balance. We take this commitment seriously.”

Started as a sole proprietorship in 2002, Beacon has grown from one commercial contract to 19 federal contracts in 2010 with 200 employees and annual revenue approaching $25 million. They have had contracts with a majority of cabinet level agencies in the federal government and commercial customers include Global 500 companies.

The WPO and American Express OPEN coordinated and ranked the companies for the 2011 50 fastest growing privately held women-led companies in North America award. Collectively, the companies generated a combined $4.1 billion in 2010 revenues and collectively employed 24,650 in 2010. These top businesses average 19 years in business and have an average of 557 employees and 100% of the CEOs are actively involved in the day-to-day operations.

Beacon is a company of leaders, putting people at the center of winning solutions. Their mission is to partner with their clients to help them achieve their desired outcomes. Beacon’s clients include Cabinet-level federal agencies, Global 500 firms, and local organizations. Through thought leadership, exceptional people, and vast experience, Beacon produces quantifiable benefits for their clients.
